| Big Knife Provincial Park |

This park was established in 1962 at the junction of Big Knife Creek and the Battle River, in an area once important to the Plains Indians. It was also the home of "One-eyed" Nelson, who had a moonshine operation at the site many years ago. The Battle River, which winds through the park, is ideal for boating. The Park is open year-round, snow conditions permitting (access/internal roads not plowed); limited facilities & services provided September 16 to May 14.
Located 8 km W & 13 km S of Forestburg on Sec. Rd. 855 or north of Halkirk. 40 sites and 13 walk-in tenting sites, 12 km hiking trails, campfire pits/firewood, informal baseball field with backstop. Self register May 15 to Sept. 15 Tel: 403-742-7512
